IKON Melt Flow Index Tester –  for plastic measures the melt flow index of the plastic material. The system consists of a heated extruder tube, an interchangeable jet through which the material under test is extruded, and a piston with dead weights to apply the specified pressure on the material inside the extruder tube. The extruder tube is made from carbon steel and is heated by means of a Bend Heater, which surrounds its outer circumference. A PID controller is provided to indicate & control the temperature of the tube. The heater clogged with mineral wool insulation. The assembly is fixed on a rigid stand. The bottom of the tube is lagged with an insulation of PTFE to prevent sticking of the extrudate. The jet through with the extruder is pushed out is made from hardened and ground die steel. It is held at the bottom of the extruder tube. The piston made from silver steel relieved at the upper end is provided to push the extrudate out of the jet. The piston moves inside the cavity of the tube. A sleeve to provide to guide the relieved portion of the piston. The top of the piston carries a plate-form for keeping the load on. The plate-form is thermally insulated from the load. The extruder tube assembly is mounted on a metal box. A sheet metal control panel is mounted on the side of the equipment & houses the PID Controller, DIGITAL PRESET TIMER & other electronic components. Cleaning tools for tube cavity and jets & stoppers & cutter for the extrudate are also supplied with the equipment.

Product Details:

Scuff Resistance Tester rubs two printed surfaces against each other (face-to-face) in the same plane, at the same speed (60 rpm), under a constant rubbing pressure. The rub test equipment can be used in Paper & Packaging industries to evaluate colour transfer from printed or coated surfaces during rubbing.

The sample is attached to the base of the tester with the printed side up. A 2 psi test weight is attached to the sample and placed in position over the sample so that the printed sides are face to face. (Ensure use of customer specified material in place of the sample where required by customer). The tester is pre-set for the number of strokes (typically 100 cycles) and the machine is started as per the customer specification. Rub Proofness Tester - The Rub Proofness Tester is used for testing the fastness of colour of light leathers to wet and dry rubbing and measuring the transfer of colour to the material with which it is rubbed. The test piece is rubbed with a rotating circular felt pad pressed against it under the specified load, and the number of revolutions of the pad required to produce certain effects is measured. & This equipment can also be used to assess the degree of damage to a material during mild wet abrasion to imitate the scuffing action of a damp hose on footwear insole during wear. A rotating wet circular felt pad, covered with a worsted repp fabric, rubs the test specimen under a specified contact force. The overall damage to the test specimens is assessed by measuring their mass loss after a specified numbers of revolutions

The ability of textiles to recover from creases is determined by measurement of its creases recovery angle . In this test the test specimen is first creased under a specified load for specified period of time and is then transferred to the angle measuring device where one of its ends is held in a spring loaded clamp while the other end is allowed to fall freely under its own weight . This clamped end is slowly rotated till the free end becomes vertical . The angle of deflection of the clamped end from the horizontal is read on a scale fixed to the ability of textiles to recover from creases is determined by measurement of its creases the moving clamp . This angle gives the measure of the crease recovery.

The Crease Recovery Tester for fabrics consists of an arrangement to crease a rectangular test specimen under a specified load for the specified duration of time and an arrangement to measure the crease recovery angle . Creasing is carried out by pressing the folded test specimen under a load of 1 Kg between two flat surfaces . The load is applied by mean of the dead weight of the upper flat surface . The arrangement for measurement of crease recovery angle has a anodized aluminum scale calibrated in degrees mounted on a mounted on a vertical disc . The disc can turn about the axis of the scale and has a spring loaded clamp located on 00 to hold one end of the test specimen . The free end of the test specimen can be aligned against a vertical edge fitted in front of the disc.

 

The test specimen is mounted on a brass strip for convenience in use and is creased and held in the clamp while still fixed onto it.
